McAfee Total Protection 2008

One of the leading antivirus softwares in the market.
REVIEW:
If they sold security software by the pound, McAfee Total Protection

2008 would be an incredible bargain, because it has tons of features,

many of which are functional and useful. And unlike last year's initial

release of MTP, McAfee has found a way to keep the suite from sinking

your PC under all that weight. According to McAfee, the current version

is optimized to run more efficiently, using fewer processes and

resources, and also designed to minimize intrusion on the PC user's

"multimedia experience." And, hallelujah! This claim actually seems to

be true.
BOTTOM LINE :
McAfee Total Protection 2008 definitely has more features than any of

its competition, but essential features like firewall and antispyware

don't measure up to the best. If you like the many bonus features go

ahead and use the suite; me, I prefer a stronger focus on the

essentials.
PROS:
Effective at keeping out malware. Remote monitoring and repair over

network. SiteAdvisor identifies safe sites and links. Good antispam

accuracy. Includes easy backup/restore.
CONS:
Firewall's default settings are too trusting. Only fair at cleaning out

malware. Parental control easily avoided. ---- image blocking is

erratic. Many "bonus features" only marginally useful.

This

particular file does not need any key to install. Just unzip and

install. The registration doesn't work. But, as of now, I am able to

get automatic updates.
